Lip Fillers

Lip enhancement or added volume can make all the difference.  Hyalronic Acid fillers are the natural approach to beautiful lips, working in a way to enhance your skin’s own natural stock of hyaluronic acid.   If you’re considering this treatment then our medical aesthetic specialist, Tracy Cullen, offers  free consultations at all our clinic locations.  The treatment can combat a number of issues whether it be thin or thinning lips, loss or lack of volume, downturn corners or lipstick lines, you will be able to discuss your concerns and the options available to you.

If volume is not your concern and you would rather smooth away fine lines, adding hydration to the lip, the option is the ‘Tender Lip Care’ (TLC); transforming your lips from dry and chapped, barely there lips  to hydrated, nourished lips with a luscious sheen.

Lip Fillers FAQ’s

What is hyaluronic acid?

It is a naturally occurring sugar chain molecule found in all skin and soft tissue throughout the body.  It attracts and binds water in the skin, providing volume and hydtration, supports and cushions collagen and elastin fibres.  Dermal fillers are manufactured to produce a clear sterile gel for injection into the skin.

There are many brands of hyaluronic acid and each has a range of tissue tailored products designed for specific results. Leading and well established brands include but not limited to:

Juvederm.  Restylane.  Teosyal.  Belotero.  Emerval.

Hyaluronic acid provides instant results.

What is it used to treat?

  • To correct or enhance facial contours; cheeks, temples, nose, jawline.
  • To define correct or enhance lips
  • To provide hydration and nourish lips and skin
  • To soften and correct facial wrinkles and folds
  • To restore lost volume
  • To correct under eye hollows
  • To improve tone, texture and hydration of the skin

Does Dermal Lip Fillers hurt?

Most leading brands contain a local anaesthetic and Coastal Skinthetics also use a topical anaesthetic cream applied for the skin.  Ice can also be used to help numb the skin prior to treatment.  It need not be painful.

What can I expect after treatment?

Coastal Skinthetics always provide aftercare advice designed to minimise risk and promote a speedy recovery from any side effects.   Most people are able to continue with normal activities with immediate improvment in their appearance.  Some may have redness, pin prick marks, possible swelling (usually lips treatment) and possible bruising.

How long do results last for?

This does vary between products and between individuals but most will last between 6 and 18 months.

Am I suitable to have treatment?

A full medical history and assessment is necessary in advance of any treatment.  Certain medical conditions and medicines may affect the decision to treat.

Is it safe?

Any side effects will be discussed with you at consultation prior to any treatment.  Side effects can include but are not limited to:

  • Redness
  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Itching
  • Tenderness

For your safety all aesthetic treatments, including dermal fillers, should always be administered by a medically qualified professional.
