SPF is always our first port of call when advising you on how to protect and enhance your skin health.
 
Sunscreen can assist significantly with premature skin ageing by helping to prevent sun damage. Sun damage is one of the biggest causes of pigmentation, wrinkles and fine lines. 
 
UVA light in particular penetrates deep into the skin, causing damage to the collagen and elastin fibres that provide our skin with its elasticity, strength and suppleness. Collagen and elastin occur naturally within the skin; however, collagen begins to deplete over time as we age. Sun damage can hasten this process, resulting in premature signs of ageing including skin laxity, and fine lines and wrinkles.
 
This means that UVA sun damage causes wrinkles, thinning of the skin and other signs of premature ageing with its direct damage. UVA also increases free radicals – unstable atoms that cause damage to healthy cells – resulting in further damage to collagen and skin cells. While there are a huge range of anti-ageing products claiming to turn back time, UVA sun damage is irreversible. As a result, preventing sun damage should be your first port of call when addressing concerns through clinics such as ourselves, particularly with already sun damaged skin. 
 
When you’re not wearing sunscreen on a daily basis to help protect your skin’s health, UVA and UVB rays can cause skin reddening, brown spots, accelerated skin aging, and of course increase your risk of skin cancer.

LETS TALK CHEMICAL PEELS…

A chemical peel can be a single acid or a mix of acids used to improve skin texture or address a combination of skin concerns. The aim is to remove the most superficial layer of skin, deeply exfoliating lower layers, increasing collagen and elastin production to reveal fresh and plump new skin underneath.

Firstly, not all chemical peels are the same.

Chemical peels run a range of different types of products that can be used, and there’s a big difference in how deeply the chemical that’s being applied affects the skin.

Medium-depth peels generally use trichloroacetic acid at concentrations of 35 percent or less. These types of peels usually use a pure form of the acid that isn’t neutralized, and they aren’t typically available for beauty facials.
Medium-depth peels can help treat skin that has a significant amount of photodamage, sun spots, mild to moderate acne scars, crepey skin under the eyes or dark circles.
